Our Chef

Born and raised in Long Island, NY Matthew Creason began working in New York restaurants as a teenager. Following high school, Matthew attended the Culinary Institute of New York, interning at top restaurants including the award-winning NYC landmark, Petrossian, sparking his love of French cuisine. After graduating top in his class Matthew spent the next few years in New York honing his skills at such highly regarded restaurants as Alouette, Panama Hatties, First, and The Muttontown Country Club before landing his first job as Chef de Cuisine at Barrio Restaurant. Matthew then moved over to the kitchen at Jane Restaurant, an American bistro and while Matthew was running the kitchen at Jane, New York Magazine called Jane “cleverly tweaked but unpretentious American cuisine.”

Matthew later became the Executive Chef of the York Grill. While he was at York Grill it was rated as City Search’s “Top #1 Best Brunch in New York”. Zagat rated York Grill a 23 and above each year and raved “This Upper East Side new American grill may be the best kept secret in New York.”

After over seven years at York Grill, Matthew ventured out of New York City and headed to the East End of Long Island for his next culinary adventure. Matthew moved into the kitchen of the South Hampton Social Club, a premier upscale fine dining restaurant with an exclusive lounge and nightclub. While Matthew was Executive Chef, Hampton’s Magazine rated The South Hampton Social Club “The Best Late-Night Dining Spot in the Hamptons.”

After his time in Long Island Matthew started a family and moved up to Westchester County as Executive Chef at Vox Restaurant. Vox catered to the Westchester elite serving a classic French menu with some twists in a country inn like setting. In June 2014 while Matthew was in the kitchen at Vox the restaurant was reviewed by the New York Times and received a “Very Good” rating with a headline: “Something for Tout la Monde”.

After some time, consulting in New York and Connecticut Matthew relocated to the famed Sandhills of North Carolina resort towns Pinehurst and Southern Pines where Matthew is currently the Executive Chef at Southern Prime Steakhouse.
